Life's strange

I've got a story for you my friends. A short story about life - how strange it is and how sudden changes it brings.











Two days ago I've spent whole day in Katowice (the nice rainy city where Phil concert was held, you remember Adam :) ) looking for a job. My point was really to find a job there, so I did my best to prepare portfolio (print it out in a nice folder and pack into selfmade cardboard box), went without any previous note and tried to reach heads of all the offices I was applying. I didn't contact them earlier, cause I didn't want to say I'm looking for a job, as I'd finish then as one of hundreds waiting for response and I didn't send portfolio via mail either, as in my opinion personal contact would be best way to convince them to hire me.

And probably it would be like that, if I'd manage to reach at least one of the architects in charge. I didn't. After visiting one of best polish offices placed in this region od Poland (some of them been really well designed) I came back home completely exhausted and mentally wasted. I took a shower and ate supper.

Then my phone rung and it occured that in 5 minutes I've got to decide if I want and I'm able to move to London for a month to work on one of latest competitions won by office of the lady at the top. Wasn't so easy, but I said yes. I had to rearrange all my plans for the forthcoming month, some of them really important to me, but I hope everything will end up well. It has to.

So that's the story. Story about life's jokes, when you cannot find a job in your own country, and suddenly you finish on a contract in one of the best practices all over. Story about the architecture student's life, about the moment when he becomes a bitch, that's able to leave everything and within 3 days move to the other country to work his ass off for a well known boss. To get this short note to your resume, that you worked for him/her, to be still able to find a job in your own country.

But I'm curiuos. Maybe even a bit anxious.

Hello my Friends.
I think I owe you some words after this long period without even a gentle noise. So basically, as all of you I guess I've been quite busy (and still am) with this theater competition, few comissions, some identity projects for friends that try to start with club, hairdresser and concept store at one spot and of course ultimate - my new love :) So, from the beginning. This Tuesday we've been to Warsaw for the announcement of the final results of The New Theater competion. I could recognise few of the most important polish architects, actors and even minister of culture at the conference. And that's all. We got honourable mention, which shoulg mean that among final 10 works, our finished as fifth (but as some of the spots have been given ex aequo prize, having honourable mention, we've finished about tenth place). Judgement of jury about on our work was saying sth like "the beauty of architecture took over reasonable functional diagram", so basically oldschool architects with 50 people under kicked ass 2 students from Łódź. But in the same time we kicked over 100 polish and european asses, so basically we're satisfied. Right now starts really big competition for The National History Museum of Poland and if it's going to be prepared as well as the theater competition (and looks as it's going to be even better - Moneo, Souto de Moura, Dalnoky in the jury), if you only have a chance, participate in it. This way, maybe we can have our own contest - would be really cool. So that's almost everything about architecture, cause there's one more thing that's inside my head right now - my diploma :) Till now I know, that it should end up as common house with exhibition spaces to animate the lil' bit forgotten district. There's 2,5 month left, and I'm not sure if I'll make it, but it's gonna be fun anyway.

The other thing I do besides architecture (and sometimes it even starts to take over) is ultimate. Right now we play almost 2 tournaments a month, what means leaving Łódź on Friday, going to other polish city (or Vienna, or Pilsen like this year) and coming back on Sunday night totally exhausted but always with a smile. And after some months when our team was usually closing the final stands table, sun has risen also for us - we've got historically best 4th place on the last tournament of polish championships, and finally after joining one of Warsaw teams, we've won 4th place in Vienna on one of the biggest central european ultimate tournaments. And as playing ultimate mean lots of travelling, in a week we're going to play in Warsaw (first polish outdoor tournament) and on the weekend 1-3rd of May, we're coming to Berlin, hellyeah! Springtime on grassfields of Berlin!

And the last thing I'd like to share with you, is a bit connected to the previous post on this site. Seems as we're going to have small reunion in Paris at the end of May :) I'm moving for the last workshops as a student, I guess, to Lille, for a week and afterwards to Paris, where both Maries will be waiting for me with baguettes, croissants and frogs :) And beeing in Paris, means seeing Francois, Luc and Jean Nouvel. Awesome!

Building steam with a grain of salt

voilà voilà...
first experiments for the Garden competition of Chaumont-sur-Loire, that we won some time ago with friends. Stuf was about designing a garden, that has to be realised for the Festival, lasting from April to October. We were here building prototypes of the furniture we designed.
(looks stupid, yup. but that made us win...)
Next step is in two weeks, preparing the site and then end of March, putting the plants...

hey people,
some pics of the latest stuff i found to keep me busy, asides my current work : the 'Nuit Blanche' of this Oct 4th.
I was proposed to take part to a small performance, strange happening which melted electronic music, a real choir (the guys in the windows, called 'White Spirit Band'), light animation and video projections.
My rôle was to make a video there, and that is what it gave : lots of people, who seemed to like it...
